Beginner Agility 21st May 2025

Our Beginners Agility Course is a 10 week course and runs from 7 to 8.30pm on Wednesday nights. We do ask participants to arrive at 6.30pm to help set up.

The minimum age for this class is 12 months. For a dog to participate they must have an understanding of obedience skills such as sit, drop and stay, however we will build on these skills during the class. In addition to this your dog needs to be under effective off lead control and stay with handler. A reliable recall is also needed as we will be working off lead in these classes and in an environment with a group of other dogs. The minimum handler age is 10yrs.

During the first few weeks of the course the instructors will be watching all dogs in the class to ensure that the dog is ready to work in such an environment and we will help you to strengthen areas if need be. If dogs are found not to be able to cope with the class your place on the course will be rolled over to a future course and you will be asked to do further work with your dog to prepare it for the future Beginners Agility class.

If you are not sure if your dog is ready or not it is suggested that you attend our Saturday morning Skills & Fun class (minimum requirement for Skills & Fun is to have completed obedience course) to check if your dogs’ skills are ready for Beginners Agility prior to booking into the class.

We use positive reinforcement to train and we ask you bring plenty of treats, not just dried/kibble but high value treats such as chicken/beef etc. for training rewards.

You will be required to wear closed in shoes and we ask that you use a flat collar or halti as we do not allow check chains or chain type collars in class. Please also bring along a crate – crate games booklet attached.

The cost is $120 plus yearly membership to the club, $30 single or $45 family.

Wet Weather info. Wet weather cancellations will be posted on Pine Agility Dog Sports facebook page prior to class starting so if unsure keep an eye out there.
